Project Requirements:

As the owner and manager of the South Australian transmission system in the National Electricity Market, ElectraNet is committed to best practice and structured management systems for environmental, technical and social planning when developing key infrastructure for the State.

Incorporating a transmission network comprising 5,700 circuit kilometres of transmission line and 76 substations and switchyards, ElectraNet relies on state-of-the-art monitoring, controlling and switching operations.

The company required an easy-to-use software solution to help staff manage the large volume of operations and maintenance data, including quick access to more than 150,000 drawings stored in SAP and third-party document management systems, to ensure it continues to maintain and improve the reliability of its assets.

Grazer's Solution:

To implement a new computer-based software system that links to digitised technical data stored in SAP and SPF systems and provide graphical navigation service to help ElectraNet more effectively manage its network of assets. The user-friendly software system allows ElectraNet to electronically (rather than manually) record and manage all operations and maintenance information, including asset drawings and
maintenance data.

Project Outcomes:

Grazer is now used as the front-end interface to greatly simplify the many technical applications within the ElectraNet system. The software provides employees with an intuitive graphics-based method of accurately locating an asset drawing or specific piece of equipment and its associated operations and maintenance data.

Project Review:

The Grazer system has led to major efficiency improvements and transformed the way ElectraNet manages technical data for its elaborate network of transmission lines, substations and other key assets located throughout South Australia.
