Over the past years System Solutions Engineering has been involved in briefing many projects for our clients and the main area of concern was the lack of suitable and/or appropriate documentation which may form the basis of a starting point on a new project within existing facilities.

We selected the Grazer system to capture all available documentation, inclusive of architectural and services drawings, specifications and operation and maintenance manuals and also used an asset module to score the condition of plant which was then provided to consulting teams as background briefing information for a specific project, effectively a starting point or suite of information.

Whilst there was some resistance initially from consultants to the use of the system due to the sheer magnitude of the documents captured, as consultants became familiar with the use of the search engine they have now embraced it, refining the information over their own design processes and the information then passed on to the client who now have both accurate and up to date information with a history of legacy information over the life of the facility.

The revisions to capture the documents by interfacing with other systems is now streamlining the process even further, to a point where the process will become more automated to some extent.

I am sure that the investment made and continually being made by Grazer will soon embrace the age of fully coordinated 3-D drawings with embedded Meta-Data to refine further the transition from design to the Facility Management processes.

Flinders Medical Centre

After Grazer had completed the condition assessment audit, Flinders Medical Centre management requested Grazer to extend the scope of the audit to incorporate the entire hospital. In addition to this, Grazer scanned the original 3000 As Installed drawings and 195 Operation and Maintenance Manuals for preservation of the aging hard copies.
